Shelter programs

The Gateway of Hope’s sheltering programs are designed to meet immediate needs while offering a path toward stability and hope. We provide safe overnight accommodation, basic nutrition, hygiene facilities, and compassionate support.

Through referrals and personalized case work, we walk alongside individuals to help break the cycle of homelessness.

We operate three distinct emergency shelter programs.


Emergency shelter

Our 24/7 emergency shelter offers a stable 90-day stay program with wraparound support.

  • 32 beds
  • Case work and referral services
  • Storage for two suitcases and one small backpack
  • Intakes based on bed availability

Relief shelter

A flexible overnight option for those needing short-term relief and support.

  • Open nightly from 7:00 pm to 9:30 am
  • Intakes begin at 10:00 pm, depending on availability
  • 30 mats
  • No length-of-stay limitation
  • Referrals to community supports
  • Storage for one large backpack, plus overnight storage for a small backpack

Extreme Weather Response (EWR)

Available from November 1 to March 31, this program activates when weather conditions become hazardous.

  • 20 mats
  • Referrals to support services
  • Overnight storage for a small backpack
  • Activated nightly based on weather criteria

All shelter programs include:

  • Staff support and supervision
  • Access to showers and laundry services
  • Three nutritious meals a day
  • Harm reduction supplies
